Easter has come, lent is over.

So very few people know that I gave up music for lent.  Now I know that sounds ridiculous but hear me out.  The purpose of this was to cut noise out of my life and spend more time in silence.  It turned out that it was ridiculously hard.  Leaving my iTunes library shut all day and being in silence was quite humbling. Of course I did have to listen to music at some points throughout the month for school projects requiring musical analysis, jam sessions, and other random times.  It was most important for me to be in silence whenever appropriate.  Whether that be in my dorm, walking between campuses, or driving to work.

I could rant on about my experience and how great it was to enjoy silence once again but I have found that now that lent is over, I have a massive craving for music.  As soon as Monday hit, I opened up my music library and couldn't decide what to play!! There was so much waiting for me to listen to that I eventually just listened to the very first song and hit shuffle.  I kept scrolling through and thinking "Oh I love this band!" to every album cover that went by.  By now, a couple days later, I have played hours of music all the time.  Right now, my favorite bands are Phantom Planet, Fleet Foxes, Head and the Heart, Third Eye Blind, Mutemath, and Spoon.

My favorite song this week by far has been "Don't Let it Get You Down" by Spoon.  Here's a link.  Just a fan uploaded vid btw.
